Syrus Ziai Named CEO of Qspeed Semiconductor. Industry veteran Dan Artusi joins high-efficiency power semiconductor manufacturer’s board of directors
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 9, 2008 – Qspeed Semiconductor, a manufacturer of high performance power semiconductors, today announced that Syrus Ziai has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer, replacing interim CEO David Gellatly. In addition, Qspeed has appointed semiconductor industry veteran Dan Artusi to its board of directors.

Ziai brings two decades of semiconductor design and management experience, a track record of structured leadership and a passion for applying leading semiconductor technologies to address power supply efficiency and reduce worldwide energy consumption to his role as CEO. Artusi brings expertise in power products coupled with a deep understanding of Qspeed’s customers. In addition to serving on the board, Artusi will consult regularly with product development, operations and marketing.

“Syrus’ strong leadership skills will ensure Qspeed’s accelerated growth, and Dan’s experience in both the semiconductor and power supply industries brings a new perspective into our company,” said Luis Arzubi, Qspeed chairman. “The expertise of both of these individuals will be invaluable as Qspeed introduces next-generation super-efficient power devices that enable power supply manufacturers to meet the performance and cost challenges of today's high performance systems.”

Ziai most recently was an executive-in-residence at Tallwood Venture Capital, a leading venture capital firm focused on the semiconductor industry and an investor in Qspeed. Ziai has held a variety of technical and management positions at semiconductor companies including Archway Digital Systems and Collinear Corporation, where he served as CEO and vice president of engineering. Ziai also was a co-founder of Nucleus Logic and previously served as research and development manager at HP.

Artusi began his career in Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector. He went on to spend 24 years at Motorola in a variety of senior management positions including operational and marketing roles in power products, as well as leadership roles in the networking and communications markets. Most recently, Artusi was the president and CEO of Conexant Systems, Inc. Prior to that, he was the CEO of ColdWatt, a manufacturer of energy-efficient power supplies, and CEO of Silicon Laboratories.

“Improved power conversion performance or ‘green’ power has become an important industry initiative, and Qspeed is uniquely positioned to make a difference with a roadmap of high-efficiency power products,” said Ziai, Qspeed’s new CEO. “Since Tallwood invested in Qspeed 18 months ago, the company has made tremendous progress. I am excited to be working with a leader in silicon power whose technology truly differentiates it from the rest of the industry.”
